I am off to meet the Himalayas
[Himalaya, /ˌhɪməˈleɪ.ə/; Sanskrit: हिमालय, hima (snow) + ālaya (dwelling)
[Himalaya, /ˌhɪməˈleɪ.ə/; Sanskrit: हिमालय, hima (snow) + ālaya (dwelling),
"abode of the snow."]
teeth fall yellow from
an old man’s mouth ,
cheeks bulging with time ,
unsalted .
lips cross-stitched .
there is karmic —
and there is bowed –
held taunt
in the hands of
men with burlap
sacks for bones ,
rivers for
eyes .
i met two rivers
on a slope ,
two arms lifted .
now i ask the dawn to
please them .
left with a seed buried
under a mountain .
two lilies gutted the sky for
some water .
petals plump –
edges crisp –
the clouds
warmed .
over the sun
is some new
relief .
that horizon is sweet —
unknowing —
prosperous .
