The Puritan is Looking for a New Editor-in-Chief

Since 2007 The Puritan has published some of the country’s best emerging and established writers. This year, we are looking for an editor-in-chief who can build on this success and lead the magazine into the future. The editor-in-chief will:
  • Work closely with the publisher, managing editor, and the rest of the masthead editors to successfully bring out four quarterly issues per year
  • Oversee publication of special and supplementary issues
  • Organize quarterly masthead meetings
  • Coordinate marketing and fundraising efforts
  • Participate in grant applications
  • Manage the hiring of new personnel
  • Participate in event and contest planning
All applicants should be familiar with the magazine and its mandate, and should also be familiar with the dynamics of literary publishing in Canada. In addition to having some experience in literature or publishing, applicants should:
  • Have a good working knowledge of contemporary Canadian literature
  • Demonstrate a proven commitment to diversity in publishing
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be extremely well-organized
  • Be based in the Greater Toronto Area
This position receives an annual stipend of $3000 paid in quarterly installments. (Please note this figure is dependent on funding.)
