THE PURITAN’S GUEST SUMMER EDITORS SERIES: 2017

That means, like last year, we have two special guest editors for Issue 38: Vivek Shraya for poetry, and Amy Jones for fiction. Essays, interviews, and reviews will be processed normally.

For now, and while you polish up those submissions, get to know our guest editors below.

Vivek Shraya is a poet, novelist, musician, and visual artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Her first book of poetry, even this page is white, was longlisted for CBC’s Canada Reads and was listed as one of the Best Books of 2016 by The Walrus. Her debut novel, She of the Mountains, was named one of The Globe and Mail’s Best Books, and her first children’s picture book, The Boy & the Bindi, was featured on the National Post Bestseller List. Vivek has read and performed internationally at shows, festivals and post-secondary institutions, including sharing the stage with Tegan & Sara. She is one half of the music duo Too Attached. Vivek was a 2016 Pride Toronto Grand Marshal, a four-time Lambda Literary Award finalist, a 2015 Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging Artist Award finalist, and a 2015 recipient of the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Dayne Ogilvie Prize Honour of Distinction.

Amy Jones is a novelist and short story writer originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her first novel, We're All In This Together won the 2016 Northern Lit Award. She won the 2008 Metcalf-Rooke Award for her debut collection of stories, What Boys Like, and was a finalist for the 2010 ReLit Award. In 2006, she was awarded the 2006 CBC Literary Prize for Short Fiction and in 2005 was a finalist for the Bronwen Wallace Award. She is a graduate of the Optional Residency MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.
