The Puritan Is Looking for Proofreaders!
The Puritan, one of Canada's best-known digital literary magazines, is looking for an energetic, careful, team-oriented proofreader to help make sure every issue that gets published is error-free and follows style guide rules.
Now in its 11th year, The Puritan publishes new poetry, short stories, essays, interviews, and reviews every quarter, with one to two special issues a year. We are looking for a magazine proofreader and a blog proofreader/associate editor for The Town Crier:
Magazine Proofreader
- able to read each issue (quarterly, plus up to 2 smaller special issues) before publication
- catch typographic, spelling, and grammar errors
- check best practices for hyperlinking
- work will mostly be in the 2 weeks before publication with nothing in between
- able to read 2-3 short posts (500-2000 words) each week
- catch typographic, spelling, and grammar errors
- upload posts to the blog on a regular schedule
- grow into an editorial role that will involve substantial editing, soliciting, etc. Please email if you have more questions about the editorial side of this role
- work will be a small amount of time (2-3 hours) every week
