The Eighth Annual Thomas Morton Prize Is Open!
The Thomas Morton Prize is back! We’re excited to announce that this year's writing contest, the Eighth Annual Thomas Morton Memorial Prize in Literary Excellence is now open! The 2019 writing contest will be judged by Michael Redhill (fiction) and Souvankham Thammavongsa (poetry).
This year the prize includes $1,000 for the winners in fiction and poetry, as well as publication in our Fall 2019 Issue 47. One runner-up in each category will also receive $200 and publication in our Fall 2019 Issue. The prize will also include a book prize pack, generously donated by Canadian publishers. In November we will announce a short list in each category. The winners will be announced at our Black Friday Party and published online shortly after.

Michael Redhill is a novelist, poet, and playwright. His most recent novel, Bellevue Square, won the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2017. He lives and works in Toronto.
Souvankham Thammavongsa is the author of four poetry books, Cluster (2019), Light (2013), winner of the Trillium Book Award for Poetry, Found (2007), and Small Arguments (2003), winner of the ReLit Prize. She has been in residence at Yaddo and has performed her work at the Guggenheim Museum. Her stories have won an O. Henry prize and appeared in Harper's, Granta, The Paris Review, and Best American Nonrequired Reading. Her first story collection, How to Pronounce Knife, will be published by Little, Brown (US), McClelland & Stewart (Canada), and Bloomsbury (UK).
