The Masters Review Short Story Award
Win $2,000 and agency reviewWhile The Puritan has its home north of the border, since becoming an online magazine it’s been accessible across the world to anyone who looked. Every quarter the magazine hundreds of submissions from American and international writers, and regularly publishes the best fiction, poetry, and non-fiction it gets, wherever it comes from. In 2014, The Puritan published a two-part supplement called “Bridging the Literary Border.” Spearheaded by editor E Martin Nolan, himself a native of Detroit, it was all about exploring the geographic, political, and imaginary boundary that separates Canada and the United States. In that spirit of cross-border cooperation, we’ve been reaching out to magazines based in the United States with upcoming literary contests. For the next little while, the Town Crier will be publishing announcements for literary contests across the border, sparing you the task of slogging through search engines. Deadline July 15th. The Masters Review is proud to announce our second Short Story Award for New Writers, which awards $2,000, publication, and agency review to the winner. As part of our commitment to promoting and showcasing the work of new writers, we've paired with The Williams Agency, GELFMAN SCHNEIDER / ICM PARTNERS and Laura Biagi from Jean V Naggar Literary Agency, Inc. in New York to review the three winners and honorable mentions and consider them for representation. In addition to agency review, the second and third place runners up will receive publication and $200 and $100, respectively. All submissions are considered for publication.The Masters Review is accepting stories from all emerging writers, which we define as any writer who has not published a novel with a major press. International writers, self-published writers, and writers with published story collections or works in genres outside of literary fiction are invited to submit.
