Toronto Literary Events in April
Let your icy shell drip off, cancel your psychotherapy appointment: spring is finally here. And with it, April—and with April, a new batch of Toronto literary events to hit up.This time around, we have the venerable Barry Callaghan launching his new book of poems, HOGG; we have Descant unveiling their spring issue, The Hidden City; we have, even, artist-cum-musician Alec Dempster giving whatever it is he gives—part book launch, part Mexican folk concert, all in support of his book of linoleum block-prints, Loteria Jarocha. As if that weren’t enough, there are two killer panel discussions coming up. Mark Kingwell, Johanna Schneller, and Dr. Sara Grimes join the CBC's Nora Spark to discuss whether as a society we’re getting more stupider and stupider. Also, the question of political satire’s effectiveness is taken up by a set of offbeat, witty types, including The Onion's editor, Todd Hanson. It all seems like a lot, and it sort of is, but it’s spring and we’re all feeling fresh out of the gate, right? So take aim at one of these Toronto literary events and shoot.Amusing Ourselves To Death: Panel Discussion with Mark Kingwell, Johanna Schneller and Dr. Sara GrimesApril 8th –7pm.
